Recovery story
We are delighted for Raslan!
We are overjoyed that Raslan's operation went well! In September 2025, Dr. Charles Mvondo and his team successfully corrected Raslan's heart defect. Raslan has recovered well. He was able to leave the hospital after just 12 days, but still came in regularly to have his dressings changed. The check-up after one month also went well. Raslan will come for follow-up examinations during the Cardiac Centre Team's screening tours in the future.
Many thanks to Ms Annelies S.! Thanks to her generous contribution, Raslan was able to receive help quickly.
Raslan was never able to play like other children. His weakness and frequent illnesses prevented him from doing so. He was repeatedly treated for infections, but without lasting success. Two months ago, Raslan was examined at the Foumban District Hospital and diagnosed with a ventricular septal defect, which requires surgical correction.
Raslan didn't have it easy from the start. Shortly after his birth, his parents divorced, and his mother and the children lived with his grandmother. When Raslan was one year old, his mother died. The grandmother, unable to cope with the sick child, returned Raslan to his father. The father then transferred responsibility for Raslan to an aunt. He now lives there with his cousins. It goes without saying that the aunt and family cannot cover the entire cost of the operation.
A thousand thanks to Ms. Annelies for her generous contribution!
