Recovery story
Gabila is a true hero!
When Gabila was brought to Yaounde for an examination in February 2025, he was very ill and the doctors wanted to operate on him immediately. His mother had refused, probably out of fear of the procedure. However, Gabila himself was fully aware of the seriousness of the situation and insisted on being operated on. He explained to the assembled medical staff that he would not leave the hospital without an operation and his mother finally agreed. Everything necessary for the operation was then prepared and on February 6, 2025, Gabila was successfully operated on by Dr. Charles Mve Mvondo and his team. There were no complications whatsoever and Gabila was very brave. He never complained of pain, followed all instructions and recovered quickly.
Gabila and his family would like to thank the Cardiac Centre team from the bottom of their hearts for the professional treatment and loving care, as well as the mi-do donation community for their generous support!
Gabila has a long ordeal behind him. He had breathing difficulties from birth, had hardly any appetite and was often tired. When Gabila was 2 years old, he was diagnosed with tetralogy of Fallot. The congenital heart defect could have been operated on immediately. However, the family refused the operation at that time and also at the annual follow-up examinations. Only now has the family agreed and Gabila has been registered for surgery in February 2025. Dr Charles Mve Mvondo and his team will perform the operation.
Gabila grew up in very modest circumstances with his grandmother. As a petty trader and driver, his parents can barely make ends meet. Perhaps this is why they had refused the operation until now. With the support of the mi-do donation community, the operation is now possible and Gabila and his family have hope again. Thank you very much for your much appreciated support!
